27° Venice Marathon – 28 october 2012

The Venice Marathon, renamed by workers in the “great autumn classic” has now earned a place among the most important events of the city.

It’s a sports event of international to draw over 7000 participants from around the world.

The marathon takes place on the official Olympic distance (42 km and 195 meters). The course is flat and slightly downhill. It starts from Stra and runs along the River Brenta, passing in front of the magnificent Palladian villas. The runners arrive in Venice via the “Freedom Bridge”, linking the city to the mainland. After crossing the Grand Canal on a pontoon bridge 160 meters long (apprestato for the occasion), the contestants paraded next to Piazza San Marco Riva and head of the Seven Martyrs, where the arrival is placed in a panoramic position on the lagoon. It is no secret that running a marathon is an enterprise, but the Venicemarathon able to join the effort (the race) to pleasure (the place) and fun (of events).
